AF3I’s NiceQSO.com

Welcome to my website.

Ham Radio is my hobby today and has been since 1967.

Ham Radio Operators use the term QSO to describe a two-way radio contact with another Ham Radio Operator.

I enjoy sharing information about my Ham Radio hobby.  These pages tell a little bit about me and highlight the Nice QSOs I’ve had with other Hams.

My employment for the past 48 years has been in the retail supermarket industry.  Some of what you see in this website is inspired by the things I have done during my career, with a bit of humor inserted here and there.

If any of this jargon is a mystery to you please see the Glossary page.

Thanks for visiting.     73.   Andrew Forsyth  AF3I

Words to Live By…

“The noblest art is that of making others happy.”

 P.T. Barnum

“Dead people receive more flowers than the living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude.”

Anne Frank

“I’d rather be a lamppost in New York  than the president of France.”

Popeye Doyle (played by Gene Hackman) in the French Connection II

“Stay away from negative people.  They have a problem for every solution.”

Attributed, probably incorrectly, by some to Albert Einstein.

If I cannot work DX from Heaven then I shall not go there.

Inspired by Mark Twain   (Samuel Clemens)

“Increasingly, our leaders must deal with dangers that threaten the entire world, where an understanding of those dangers and the possible solutions depends on a good grasp of science. The ozone layer, the greenhouse effect, acid rain, questions of diet and heredity. All require scientific literacy. Can Americans choose the proper leaders and support the proper programs if they themselves are scientifically illiterate? The whole premise of democracy is that it is safe to leave important questions to the court of public opinion – but is it safe to leave them to the court of public ignorance?.”

Isaac Asimov

“No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else.”

P.T. Barnum

“I stand upon my desk to remind myself that we must constantly look at things in a different way.”

John Keating,  Dead Poets Society
(played by Robin Williams)

“Carpe Diem.  Seize the day, boys.  Make your lives extraordinary.”

John Keating,  Dead Poets Society
(played by Robin Williams)

“On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principle, stand like a rock.”

Thomas Jefferson

RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE – SPOTLIGHT

Spotlighted Supplier

www.KB3IFHqslcards.com

Randy Dorman, KB3IFH, is my go-to resource for all matters involving QSL Cards and Shack Stuff.  The other day I ordered some items from his Shack Stuff collection.  I often use Mouse Pads and Can Koolies as door prizes for radio club meetings.  Randy and his Team put together some great art work and they got my order “out the door” faster than you could say “Jack Robinson”.

I am a happy customer.  Thank you, Randy.

A Fellow Ham Operator

Recognizing a fellow Ham Radio Operator who made the world a better place because he or she lived in it.

That would be Glenn Kurzenknabe, K3SWZ.  Glenn has me on his mailing list whenever an interesting topic or news event crosses his desk.  I appreciate the people who share.  I appreciate Glenn.
Thank you, Glenn.
